I declare a SUCCESS!!!

It was a great weekend! There was a ton of alcohol, lots of motorized vehicles, a mess of food, and tons of friends and good times! I have finally made my way through the 400 pictures and pulled out some of the highlights. If I missed you riding the gocart, 50 or cheesy rider, I apologize ahead of time! If you didn't ride any of the above, you missed out on some of the fun!

Hope we can all do it again soon.... okay, not that soon or ever again! My liver needs some time to recover, or it might revolt.

One last time... Happy 40th Birthday Dan! I hope it was one you will remember. I know as you grow into using your cane, the memories will always come rushing back!

Photographic evidence...

Burning Dan

Here is the link to the Picasa Album.

Well! That was something...

My liver is still not talking to me, and the cat hid a dead mouse in my riding boots, so I must have been in rare form.

Seriously, thanks to everyone who showed up and celebrated with me. I know I had a fantastic time and I hope you all did as well.

post 11pm post (hahahahahah)

so, time has slipped away a tad since daddy's last post. sorry. Bloho the magnanimous here. The allegedly substantial youngster has arrived and been adjudged wonting on a number of level, but then hey, I'm a tad fer-schnosh-kieeed, and who knows, I could be way off base here. Yeah, it WOULD be funny if I talked that way or thought thoughts like that, wouldn't it?! :- )

the party has changed dimensions a tad, as is often the case as the hours tic on. Many have left or adjourned to their tents, esp. those w kids. Danno is singing Lyle Lovett songs - badly, I might add.  There are about 10-12 people here in the garage who are aware and still going strong. Not sure how long I will be one of them. I could crash now, but suspect I also might mysteriously find myself postin again at 245 am. who knows.

Kim wisely napped for a few hours earlier and danno is truly schwacked. He's slipped now into the 11th phase of drunkenness where he plays (and forces everyone to listen to) the same (crappy) song on the iPod over and over. Oh, and now he is also playing it way too loudly and blithely refusing to lower it.  i think i am typoing less as a result of slowing the rate of alcohol intake, but that's for the olympic judges to decide. BTW, the disco ball in the garage is working swimming,y and is now uo from one color to two, creating an extremely funky effect on my keyboard.

it's 745:pm post

Beau-a-dosh-us here agiiiin: the first fire of the night is lit (here Frakenstein saying "fire. good"). burning Dan, as per the previous post is here. its spitting rain every few minutes but just fir a second - not even enough so for us to move the bikes into the garage. Kim just freshened my drink out of slavish respect for the hard wrk of blogging al day I have been doing. Who can blame her. I am just way too witty, tho i think that with each passing hour and 3-7 drinks, i am less and less witty - or anything else of value. people have been riding cheesy rider and the 50 around the lawn all day.  we're up to 20+ people here, maybe 30. I miss Michelle and the cuties, but it was soooo the right call for them not to come. there are a bunch more kids, and they are lighting the bonfire and throwing in cardboard, so they are having fun. kids + fire + fun 99.9% of the time. The other .01% is a) a tragedy; and b) darwin hard at work. too tough for you? well, suck it. big fitz and keither coked off the ribs, and i hear wings are done out back too, so I cam going to shag my fatt tush back there to have a few to go with the 576 drinks I have had thus far, Mariano!  typos seems to be down, which is odd, cause i am drubker yet still than earlier, and i promise to keep it up. will blog again, later, even though i know no one is reading this, you pathetic cock knockers!

5:45 post

Beauseefus here again: "Waat's up wit dAT" BROTHER BOYLES SAYS. LEXI JUST SHOwed up. i'm a tad drunker yet still, so the typos are increasing at an increasing rate. Keith and I just went to his place to get the burning Dan. it stands a good 12 feet tall and we put it uprgjght in his pickup. so on the way back to big fitz's we probably trimmed a  half dozen trees and sweated it about how many low power lines we'd take down, but thakfully the answer was zilch. Yes, we did leave a few BIG tree limbs in the middle of Haycock's roads. Kim has some pics I will post shortly. The wings lost and I am grumpy about it, but i'm a tad too drunky wunky as Mike Victor would say. Ty Wai and Mrs. lucy tai wai seems more than a little tense. Keith and I are urgently looking for aomethinh to put on burning dan's head/top now, because we have suddenly realized after erecting the tall mo fo that he sort of looks the what one might burn at a klan rally. freking us right out, and no one seems to get why. Geisel and the missus and kids showed, so now its a party.

3:39 pm post

Beau here again: The # of peeps is starting to pick up. We now eclipse a solid dozen or more. it's 13 min left in the third and the wings are down 2-1, but I remain confident this is a temporary condition.  Keith and Keegaloo just had a figure 8 slalom race in the back yard, with Kegan on the 50 cc Honda and Keith riding Cheesy Rider. I have pics we'll post here at a later date. Scads more folks just arrived, which rocks. I am eagerly awaiting Sarah's arrival (26-year-old bar broad Sarah, not already-here, very cute 18-month-old Sarah). I plan to do a full Phillips on her, which will likely leave her questioning everything about herself for months, but is typically done with a subtlety and grace that leaves the subject unaware I was anything but nice, funny and a joy to spend time with until a few days later. The only concern: Big Fitz was nice enough to give me a straw, which has the rum going into my gullet at a far quicker rate, leading to a true buzz for the first time today (and the # of typos is clearly up over earlier posts!). Ty Wai is here, and I haven't seen him since Dan's birthday years and years ago - before Michelle and I were married, which means 6 years. Big Fitz is right: he looks younger than six years agio. Fucker! :- )    OK, need to go make another drink now and meet new folks. Will blog again  later (and drunker). Hugs and kisses. - Beau

1:13pm post

Bloho here again: The gaggle is starting to grow. we're up to about a dozen now, incl. Keego, Jay and Sarah clocking in to rep the under 4 and under 4-foot crowd. big fitz is up from napping and danno and i just got back from a rum, 100-pounds of ice, gas, and coke run. Took a call from KGrow on Chicago media follow up to last Saturday's page on WSJ cover piece. It's ok to do a little client work whil eplaying, and we were at the gas station, not mid-party when I did it. Puck drops in Hockeytown in 23 minutes, and a win today would send the red wings to the cup against philly or pittsburgh (who is up 3 games to 1 over the flyers).

Kegadoo and Keith are now tearing up the lawn w dirtbikes, Daddo fitz continues to cook non-stop and despite the wind its beautiful here if not a tad chilly, so we are all going for a ride shortly. I expect afterwards we'll come back to Fitz's and drink our faces off. will post again after 50 miles of bucks county back roads and a few cocky-tails.

Post ONE:

Goooden Morgan all. It's 10:30 am on Saturday - Zero Day - and the first full day of DanStock08. This is Beau, posting as Dan because technology is hard, damnit.  Kim reports that there have thus far been no casualties, no emergency room runs, and no vehicular accidents of any known kind. (Okay, to be fair and honest, I did drunkenly decide to stand on the right (which is to say, wrong!) footpeg of my parked FJR13 in the garage around 2am, causing it to dump right over on its side. But, no harm, no foul, and since there is no visible damage, the story will be it never happened. Anyone who suggests otherwise will be charged with sedition and dispatched to Guantanamo for a US government funded special face washing.)

Given that I woke up with the bedside light on, loving cradling a one pound bag of ginger snaps in my arms, I'll assume it just MAY be possible that I passed out, rather than actually fell asleep of my own volition. Big Fitz has been cooking for a while and the team has been sustaining itself thus far on mimosas, coffee, diet soda and a ceaseless nibbling of bacon. The baked french toast is ready and smells damn good, so I will sign off to stuff my pudgy face. Will blog again in a few hours or cocktails, whichever comes first.

A Word from the organizer (Kim)

Hey everybody!

Please remember to bring your camping chairs if you think you might want to sit down at any point!

Mmmm... Beer.

Beer Update:

The homebrew is all in kegs:
  • Bavarian Dunkel Weiss
  • Czech Pilsner
  • Chocolate Brown
  • Alaskan Amber
Additionally there is a hard cider, which really turned out to be a sparkling apple wine. When I first kegged it, it was a dead ringer for Pinot Grigio, but after a week it is really more like a Prosecco. I mean really exactly like Prosecco. Pretty cool huh?

Shake and strain into cocktail glass.

Garnish with frozen red grapes

Danstock aka. Burning Dan 2008

When: May 16 - 18 2008

Why??! You ask?

First Ever (and likely last) Burning Dan Festival! or Danstock or whatever...

It's my 40th birthday, which in and of itself is no big deal but it is an excuse to have a big-ass party.

Where? 829 Thatcher Rd. Quakertown, PA (Dad's House)

Kegs of homebrew, barbeque, more beer, bonfire, camping. The whole nine!

More Details as they are developing..

This is a family friendly event. Feel free to bring your whole posse. There will be activities for the kids, go-karts, mini bikes, archery, semi-controlled structural demolition using improvised explosive devices.

Kidding! About the last one, that's for adults only, the others are for real.

Camping will be available to all, with plenty of facilities for showers and bathrooms.

There will be horseshoe pits, volleyball court, bean bag toss. Lake Nockamixon is nearby and we will have kayaks, and sailboat on hand.

Those who can remain sober for a sufficient period of time can enjoy a nice motorcycle ride around Tinicum and Haycock townships.

There will be a seafood boil Friday and barbeque Saturday nights, Bloody Mary bar Saturday and Sunday mornings, and if prior experience is any judge enough food and drink to supply the First Army will be generally available the entire time.
